Romans 13:11

The Bible tells us in John 8:32 that the truth will set you free, yet it seems as if many Christians ignore this promise from God. Instead of being contenders for the gospel of Christ they have become pretenders. They pretend to wear the name of Christ and ignore biblical mandates. In our world of the twice dead many Christians are fearful of expressing biblical values in a society that is determined to eradicate God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit from the public square. It is time for those who have mouthed Christianity to take a stand. A stand that is as unpopular as the Chicken Pox. Brothers and sisters, lip service is as unpopular with God in this new millennium as it was with Him in the first century!
This article is as difficult to swallow for the Church as it is for the world. In fact the world and America are in the mess that they are in because the Church refuses to be the Church. Instead the Church is more concerned with public opinion than truth. She is more concerned with being in a popularity contest with MTV, which she cannot possible win, than with being the blood bought Body of Christ! It is a known fact that most of the people in American are headed for hell while the Church plays softball, goes bowling, skiing, back packing, jogging for Jesus and everything else except for that which she has been called to do.

Hebrews 5:12-14 says, “For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”
Problem: These Christians had not grown, they may have sat in the assembly for years, but as far as the Lord was concerned they were still sitting in the “nursery.” The same is true today and who is to blame? Certainly it is not God because He has given us His Word! We could now play the blame game. After all that is what everyone in America seems to gravitate to. This is the reality of our world from the commission on Hurricane Katrina to the 12 year old who murders 13 people. Remember, it is always someone else’s fault. Now, as this plays out in the scheme of the world the church is not too far behind. If I do not grow spiritually it must be somebody else’s fault. True, you know it could be the leaderships fault. Now this is a distinct possibility. In many cases the leadership has received their “message from God” from the denominational internet sites. They have ceased to study, {I don’t really believe that many of them ever studied.} Ignorance is no excuse, but in their case they have truly revealed their ignorance. Who else could we, as the Body of Christ, blame? We could blame the “bible colleges” that taught the leadership and we may have “hit the nail on the head,” but that is not the end of it. Yes, leadership may be guilty and yes the Bible colleges may be guilty, but that doesn’t excuse those who occupy the pews every Sunday from guilt.

What is the Church?

I. By Terminology
Our definition of something will often determine how we use it or misuse it. A $5000 computer could be used as a boat anchor, but that’s not what it’s designed for. A $150,000 thoroughbred could be used to pull a plow, but that’s not what it was bred for. A $100,000 Mercedes Benz could be used for hauling garbage, but it would be a terrible misuse of a great car.

True Worship
Written By
Dr. James Spinnati
What is the matter with the church today? The modern church and many who profess Christ are in trouble today even though few realize it. I don’t know if it is just me but there seems to be nothing sacred today. Many have forsaken the fear of the Almighty. They dress like they are going to the beach at Surf City and treat God like some vender on the Vegas Strip. Their “worship” is casual at best and the preacher, for the most part, is the leader of the pack. The only thing that he needs to complete his fashion statement is a Hawaiian Lei around his neck! His attitude is that he doesn’t want to offend any earthly human by his attire. He could care less about God because that is not who he is interested in impressing. This casual attitude permeates the assembly to the point that the Church in their finest “Christian” vernacular begins to call God the “man upstairs” or the “big guy.” Brothers and sisters God is not the man upstairs or the big guy, He is holy, righteous and the one who is to be worshipped!

America: Past, Present, and Future
Written By Dr. James D. Spinnati
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. Psalm 33:12
As we have celebrated the 232nd birthday of our country have we thought about our responsibilities to each other and our nation? Someone has said, “The temptation is to enjoy the fruits of citizenship without tending the tree of liberty.” This quotation points out the fact that many of us haven’t earned the freedoms we enjoy. We didn’t go to foreign lands and fight for them. We have not shed our blood, sweat, and tears for them. One poet expressed it better than I ever will he said, “We eat from orchards we did not plant. We drink from wells we did not dig. We reap from fields we did not sow and fires we did not kindle warm us. Roofs we did not build shelter us and we are blessed by moneys we did not give.” If we ever forget the blessings of freedom and the call to sacrifice we will, without realizing it, cut down the tree of liberty. We must never forget what God has done in the past for America. We must examine what our present reality is and then we must know that God will deal with America and each one of us in the future.
